Financially Empowering SPPF Trainees with AFPFC MPC Seminar

Newly-minted graduates of the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro attended a financial literacy seminar held by the AFP Finance Center Multipurpose Cooperative (AFPFC MPC) this February 21, 2025.


With the theme “FUNincial LiterEASY,” the financial literacy seminar was attended by 77 graduates of SPFF—empowering them with the necessary skills and knowledge on prudently managing their finances as they enter their work with the Bureau of Corrections.

The seminar, titled “How to Lock-In Financial Peace of Mind,” was led by Mr. Jake Abatayo, CPA, President of the Philippine Institute of Certified Accountants of Oriental Mindoro. There, seminar attendees learned key ideas on building necessary financial foundations, managing cash flows, and pointers on debt management.

Encapsulating the essence of prudent financial management, Mr. Abatayo emphasized to the graduates, “To save is to spend by spending money at the right time and at the right moment.” 


After the seminar, the graduates also attended an information drive by AFPFC MPC, where they were introduced to the Cooperative’s benefits and services to help jumpstart their journey towards financial well-being.
