Our Story

After the December 1989 "coup d' etat" attempt, 109 AFP Finance Center personnel, recognized with a Php 1,000 incentive for their loyalty to the government, were inspired by their Commanding Officer, Col. Lysias C. Cabusao, to pool their funds to address financial needs. This led to the founding of the AFP Finance Center Multi-Purpose Cooperative (AFPFC MPC) with a starting capital of Php 109,000. Despite early challenges, the Cooperative began by offering loans at a modest interest rate and engaging in small consumer sales. It was registered formally on December 2, 1992, with an authorized capital of Php 240,000, founded on trust, respect, and mutual confidence among its members.

In its early years, AFPFC Multi-Purpose Cooperative operated from makeshift locations within the AFP Finance Center, relying on part-time staff and board members who volunteered their services. With growing trust, the Cooperative secured an initial Php5 million credit line from Land Bank of the Philippines, which has since expanded to Php 300 million, allowing members to receive loans within the day. Under the leadership of Col Roseadel Ocbina and BGen Lysias Cabusao, it has grown its assets to Php4.532 billion and its membership to over 30,000 within two decades.

Guided by the trust of its members and a strong commitment to render quality service and benefits, the AFPFC MPC continued to grow and has become â€‹one of the leading cooperatives in the Philippines, providing savings and loan services to members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Corrections, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, and the Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc.

Currently, the cooperative boasts over ₱8.6 billion in total assets, ranking as the Top 3 Cooperative in Terms of Assets in the National Capital Region and Top 8 in the Philippines, according to data released by the Cooperative Development Authority.

With a nationwide presence encompassing 25 offices and a membership exceeding 43,600, AFPFC MPC is committed to addressing the financial needs of its Kamay-Ari while uplifting their lives and contributing to community development.
