AFPFC MPC Joins 2025 International Year of Cooperatives Launch

On January 31, 2025, more than 100 representatives of the AFP Finance Center Multipurpose Cooperative came together at the Quezon City Memorial Circle to show their support for the national launch of the 2025 International Year of Cooperatives (IYC).


With the theme “Cooperatives Build a Better World,” the launch aims to showcase the positive changes enabled by cooperatives in their respective communities. The event seeks to raise awareness of cooperatives, promote pro-cooperative policies, foster partnerships, and encourage youth involvement.

The AFPFC MPC representatives are joined by 3,000-strong attendees coming from various cooperatives nationwide.


Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte opened the celebration, recognizing the role of cooperatives in creating lasting impact to their stakeholders. “It proves that social entrepreneurship is a transformative tool changing the lives of our citizens for the better,” Mayor Belmonte declared.


Asec. Myrla Paradillo of the Cooperative Development Authority and National Alliance for Cooperatives President MGen Gilbert LLanto (Ret), delivered their solidarity messages underscoring the people-centered change driven by cooperatives all over the country.


Concluding the event launch, attendees signed a solidarity statement reaffirming their commitment to stand behind the key values of cooperativism laid out by the 2025 IYC.


AFPFC MPC previously took part in the last International Year of Cooperatives previously held in 2012.
