Ninety graduating trainees of the Service Support Training School (SSTS) of the Army Support Command (ASCOM), Philippine Army (PA) learned prudent financial skills through a financial literacy seminar held by the AFP Finance Center Multi-Purpose Cooperative (AFPFC MPC) last April 11, 2025.
During the seminar in Camp General Servillano A. Aquino in San Miguel, Tarlac City, trainees were taught the crucial concepts of the foundations of financial literacy.

Prof. Maria Teresa Cayabyab-Agustin, CPA, head of the Financial Management Department in the College of Business and Accountancy at Tarlac State University, led the financial literacy seminar.
Beyond the foundational concepts, participants also learned practical ideas to start their financial journeys, with vital financial skills like budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management being discussed with trainees.

Prof. Cayabyab-Agustin emphasized to trainees the importance of the step-by-step process of achieving one’s financial goals. “Break down larger goals into smaller milestones to make them more manageable,” she said.
After the financial literacy seminar, the SSTS trainees attended an information drive by AFPFC MPC to jumpstart their financial success. There, the trainees were introduced to the Cooperative’s superior benefits and services, like its loan facilities and savings products.
